RE: EASTERN MICHIGAN JAYCO DEALERS - Important!!

General RV through my own personal experience plus word of mouth from others has always been known for their very poor service at the Brownstown location...their Novi and grand Rapids locations are supposedly better in terms of service from what I here... Sad now that I can't take our new fifth wheel back to Southland Trailer for warranty/service work should I need it...service manager at Southland has been there for 37 years...I know for sure I won't be taking it to General Rv for service...Camping World in Belleville, MI is a possibility...

EASTERN MICHIGAN JAYCO DEALERS - Important!!

This concerns those that have purchased or are purchasing a Jayco product from the following Jayco dealers: Southland Trailer in Taylor, MI and Haus of Trailers in White Lake, MI and Waterford, MI... About 1 year ago General RV purchased Southland Trailer and they recently completed the purchase of Haus of Trailers. Two weeks from tomorrow (08/29/2008) General RV plans on closing Southland Trailer and transferring all operations and product to General RV's Brownstown, MI location. As for Haus of Trailers the Waterford, MI location is closing but the White Lake, MI location will remain open. All of the employees of both dealers will find out first thing tomorrow morning whether they have a job or not. Very sad to see Southland Trailer, especially Larry and Andre in the service department, waiting to find out if they have a job or not (good luck guys!) and all the other employees who may or may not be losing their job or not. Saddest thing here is now all their customers have to go to General RV to get service, including ourselves...I have never liked General RV but that is another story... If this affects you good luck in whatever may happen...

RE: Water Pump Running Continuously (or Not)

Sounds like you have a leak somewhere...when it runs continuously it is failing to build up enough pressure (i.e. leak) in the lines...make sure all the faucets are closed tight (including the outside shower should you have one)

RE: Jayco Designer : How's the Desk? 36 RLTS or 34 RLQS

We were looking at the 36RLTS and while nice with the desk found that the 35RLTS suited us better...Jayco makes a wonderful product...I saw the desk in the 36RLTS and while nice to have I found any work that I needed to get done the dining room table was just as big and would handle what I needed to do... Yes it was hard to do but I gave up the desk in the 36RLTS and instead went with the 35RLTS and the 42" LCD TV...I figured someone had to do it...:B

RE: Trade in horror story

If there is someone at the Bank that has been calling about late payments then call them and tell the Bank that the dealer is supposedly bringing in a check today...

RE: Onan 5500 Generator

I have a 03 HR Neptune with Onan 5500 generator. It will run fine for 1 to 1;30 hrs and then shut down. It shows a one blink at the start switch which according to the manual means high temp. I have changed the coolant, oil is up to spec, plenty of gas. All openings are open and not restricted. Any ideas on what else it could be? Is there a sensor somewhere that might need changing? Try posting this in Tech Issues along with the model # and you might get more responses...

RE: Made the decision to go with twins? Where do I get them?

Well first I checked with the cute lady down the street...said she wasn't interested? ...so I got them here instead MAYBERRYS Started out with 2 of the Honda's and then when we bought our new fifth wheel below we went with a built-in Onan generator

RE: gen-turi

Everyone who runs a built-in generator on their RV needs one in my opinion, if not for themselves then for the respect of others...takes the fumes above your Rv to be blown away, does reduce noise of the generator, and sets up in less than 2 minutes... If you read the GenTuri owner manual it states do not leave on while driving...

RE: Trade in horror story

Ah yes....Walt Michaels...many horror stories about that dealership...service after the sale? I can only wish you luck on that... Best advice, besides an attorney, is get in contact with your bank and explain what is going on...take in all your evidence but most importantly keep your bank up to speed with all the going-ons...unfortunately you are responsible for payments until it is traded off...and as someone else said not paying off the trade-in is a red flag of cash flow problems at the dealer... Good luck and keep us informed!

RE: New Truck Decision

Test drive them all and decide for yourself what suits your needs and towing requirements... I am sure that any of the big 3 would be fine. My concern would be that if a new GM (or Ford) can't hold up for mor ethan 200,000 miles of hard towing, I am going to be back in the same boat. Another question. Since I have had excellent service from a 6 speed manual tranny, what is the story on getting a new GMC with a stick. The bone-heads on the lots have no clue about ordering a stick, they try to push what they have on the lot. THx I was a Ford man for close to 20 years and my last Ford was a 2000 3/4-ton diesel and towed what I had with no problems (although with this model year (and maybe others) if you needed to change out the oil pan you had to pull the engine?) Two years ago I switched to a 2005 Checy Silverado 1-ton dually with the Duramax/Allison and it is one great truck...I would buy another GM product again just so I can get the Allison transmission

RE: How do you feel: campgrounds that require a "newer" rig?

While I realize is is their business and they can make whatever rules they want there is nothing to say that we can't make our own decisions as to if we wish to give them our business...with that in mind I avoid these kinds of places if I can even though I have a 2008 fifth wheel...

RE: River Ridge Campground- Breckenridge, Michigan

We have had alot of people on here whose first post is to bash a campground, dealer, etc. and in a few rare cases in has turned out to be competition to these places bashing their competitors...if this is not the case then I apologize

Scissor jacks are designed to stabilize RV's to help in eliminating most movement but are not designed to raise or lower an RV...we use Lynx levelers to change a tire if needed...

REFLECTIVE TAPE NEEDED

I'm looking for a place online or a local brand-name store that sells reflective tape...I want to put some on the side of my slides since we seem to boondock alot in parking lots, etc. and have the slides out when needed... Anyone know of a good place online or a brand name store where I can pick some up????
